MIJF 2015 – Opening Ceremony @Fed Square, Melbourne


Friday 29th May MIJF 2015 – Opening Ceremony at Fed Square – Melbourne, Australia.

A  free open-air concert  hosted by Fem Belling and speeches by the former Premier of Victoria, Ted Baillieu, Councillor , @Beverley Tinder-Moertimer and Artistic Director of the Festival Michael Tortoni.

A perfect Melbourne day to watch performances by The Bad Plus ( (USA) (Reid Anderson – Bass,Ethan Inverson – Piano, and David King on the drums)   Eric Harland (USA) with his band Voyager (Eric Harland -Drums, Walter Smith III – sax, Taylor Egsti -Piano, Julian Lage – guitar and Harish Raghavan – double Bass)  and the Melbourne sextet, The Hoodangers (Ben Gillespie – trombone, Eugene Ball – trumpet, Phil Noy – Alto sax, Mal Williams – Banjo, and Ollie Browne on the drums).

Also, visiting artist from India, Debasis Chakroborty on his slide guitar with Sam Evans on the Tabla.

Photos taken at the Opening Ceremony seated on one of those ‘easy chairs’ in front of the stage that you could not get out of, that easily, but so comfy.
