The Annual Graeme Bell Jazz Bell awards was held at Birdsbasement. The last time I was here at the awards night was in 2016.
The list of recipients of the award which also carries handsome cash prizes and the various categories are :
Best Jazz Vocal album: Josh Kyle – Trombone Song Cycle
Best Instrumental Jazz album: Sam Anning – Across A Field As Vast As One
Best Produced album: Barney McAll – Zephyrix (feat Monash Art Ensemble)
Best Australian Jazz Ensemble of the Year: Andrea Keller – Five Below Live
Young Jazz Artist of the Year: Niran Dasika – Suzaku
Best Jazz Work of the Year: Jonathan Zwartz – ‘Animarum’ (from Animarum)
Hall of Fame: Sandy Evans
