Saturday 8th June 2013 at the Melbourne Town Hall
In my opinion one of the great nights of the Melbourne Jazz Festival with quite a crowd on the floor, dancing to the music of two bands,Michael McQuaid and his Red Hot Rhythmakers, with Sandra Salty (Vocal)
The Dress code in the Melbourne Jazz Fest Programme required patrons to be swanky and spiffy and they came, dressed in period dresses of the twentys. It was a sell out! like most shows of the Festival.
When I walked in to the Town Hall, there were so many empty seats! Ah! Ah! They were all on the dance floor in front of the stage dancing their feet away from Jiving to Charleston all night long from start to finish! Dance Instructors from the Swing Patrol were teaching the basics of the Charleston.
The Swing Patrol entertained the crowd with two spectacular floor shows.
With almost everyone on the floor limited by the space available for dancing, surely, the event could have accommodated another hundred 0r so quite easily. But, a seat is a seat, occupied or not! I think Melbournians will enjoy more of this more frequently.
