The African Musical and Cultural Festival at the Federation Square celebrating Diversity and Harmony was well attended and the organisers say is one of the largest cultural festivals held in Melbourne.
The Festival started at 10 Am with a Parade by Sambasita and finished with a performance by Afro Moses.
The formal start of the Festival included – Welcome remarks by AMCF Steering Committee Chair – Fred Alale , speeches by Minister for Finance & Multicultural Affairs – Hon Richard Wynne MP, Lord Mayor of Melbourne – Sally Capp, Victoria Multicultural Commission Chair – Helen Kapalos, Deputy Commissioner of Victoria Police – Wendy Steendam, Former Premier of Victoria – The Hon Ted Baillieu. Deloitte Australia Managing Partner for Victoria – Paul Rehder, Slater & Gordon CEO – John Somerville, Commonwealth Bank GM – Huss Mustafa, 15) Australian Multicultural Foundation Executive Director – Dr Hass Dellal and North Melbourne Football Club – Football Superstars Majak Daw and Jamie Macmillan
