The Melbourne Jazz Cooperative’s (MJC) Sunday presentation –  The Anton Delecca Quintet with Ben Hanlon on Bass, Danny Fischer on Drums, Matt Steele on Piano and Flora Carbo on Saxophone.  The Melbourne Jazz Co-operative is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting original live jazz performance by established and emerging artists in Melbourne.

It is for the first time that I met and heard Anton  For more about Anton visit his  webpage – https://antondelecca.com/about/  from which the following extract is reproduced.

“..Anton Delecca is an award winning tenor saxophonist, composer from Melbourne, Australia. He has been living in New York for the last two and a half years. He has just recorded a new album on Nov 25th and 26th 2019 in New York featuring the stellar rhythm section of Caili O’Doherty – piano, Cory Cox – drums and Matt Clohesy – acoustic bass.

Anton has played for many years with the internationally renowned band The Bamboos and has performed and/or recorded with artists such as American jazz legends Arthur Blythe, Odean Pope, Wycliffe Gordon and recently funk legend Maceo Parker. His group the Anton Delecca Quartet has three albums out on Australia’s leading jazz label, Jazzhead and he is featured on many other Australian jazz recordings…”
